Before jumping into the RP, this is some basic information to get you started.
Essential Documents
To introduce yourself and say hi to the other members, you may post in either Introduction and Support or General Discussion. Or use the shout box, of course. Threads I'd then recommend looking over before beginning:

I know that it's a little long, but it holds the most important information about the RP's canon. It still doesn't tell everything about the Outcasts, though. Some sections were left out to be explained in the extensive info thread. You can probably get away with skimming over just a few of its sections, particularly the ones toward the top.
Warriors vs. Outcasts
Lists the different elements between the Outcasts' and Warriors' worlds.
Guidelines
You must familiarize yourself with the rules- this thread tells everything about etiquette, character creation, and how the timeline is going to work.

The Project
This board has everything concerning the canon timeline and characters. You can read parts of the main story here, as well as look at some official character profiles to get a feel for what's expected of character applications for the RP.
Economy
This is mostly a list of items that the Outcasts possess and trade, and things that they aren't allowed to own.
Medicine
I would encourage you to read this over if you plan on making a nurse character. This document has info on recurring diseases and treatments for them, as well as other procedures the nurse may use.
Spirituality
A little speculative essay concerning the Outcasts' beliefs. This isn't a big deal unless you really are interested in the spiritual possibilities within the plot.
Creating your Character
The only strict requirement for registering an Outcast is that she must be at least 9 years old, and typically no older than 11 (if non-original). Everything else is open-ended, including background history, personality, etc. All I ask is for these aspects as well as appearance to be realistic and reasonable. Not all Outcasts come from abusive backgrounds- some of them left their families because they were simply too naive, or the Outcasts they first met were very charismatic.

Overall, you can play around with creating your characters to your liking. As long as the app doesn't break any of the guidelines, it will most likely be accepted. The reviews for it will be rather lenient.
After your Character is Approved
Once your character is accepted, the plotting board would be the next stop. Some people may already have threads in there, including an admin or mod. The plotting forum will basically be used to recruit people for a plot idea that will take place within one of the Clans' boards. Unless it takes place at Clan borders, members may only recruit people with characters from their own Clan.
